leonardo and me

leonardo di caprio!!!! i want to say i have grown up with leo. even though that is not true in the sense that he is a movie star and i have never met him. he's just always been there, you know what i mean? gosh, i don't know.. i feel kind of demented for saying that. hehhee the aviator is now showing in theatres and i am really excited about this new movie! it's been getting rave reviews!! i had this crush on leo when he was still in growing pains and since then, have watched all his movies. actually, still have to watch "this boy's life" captioned and also "what's eating gilbert grape" to complete my leo fixation!!! hehehe! but honestly now, seriously now, i have great respect for leo both as a person and an actor. as a person, he may not be that great ( according to the rumours) but then again, who gives a sheet about them?i mean no one is perfect!as an actor, you defintely have come a long way, baby! to leo, here's to more oscar nominations(i hope he wins this time!!), more great movies and a blindingly flashingly brilliant career!!!!!!! i raise my glass of BO's iced caffe latte to you!!! every person has a story

today as i was riding the LRT, i looked around the shuttle ( i usually stare aimlessly at the windows, getting all sad about the poverty) and realised that you know, every person in that shuttle must sure have some story to tell... the mom and her kid, that old lady reading the newspaper. the two students in doctor's uniforms obviously studying for an exam (coz they were muttering and reading notes from a notebook together)... every one of these people must sure have some story to tell about their lives.

just thinking out loud, guys. ;)

learning from kris and jon

i just read this article on TV guide about kris and jon(yes, i am absolutely smitten with these two) ... it is an interview with them and they sound really nice. what did i learn? well, that you could have fun and not be stressed out and not scream at each other .... just enjoy the experience of being in the amazing race. kind of like saying to enjoy the time you have right now and not be too stressed out about everything coz then you miss the fun about living life... i have to say they have an amazing relationship. one i wish to experience one day. you know, to find that just one guy. (where the h-ll is he???!!??) a long time ago, i thought that i had found him but oh well.... guess not.
interested in reading the article about kris and jon (presently my two favorite people in the world hehehe)..

a very long engagement

website:http://wip.warnerbros.com/avle/

this is the title of a french movie that i've been curious about for a long time. it was really good.
i saw it at gateway, the new mall which was really nice. i think i'm gonna love that mall. only need to take the LRT to go there and back home. so it felt safe.
the movie was quite sad and very different. as it was a foreign film, it had subtitles, which was part of the reason i decided to watch it. nothing than watching a large screen movie with subtitles, right? in that sense, you're no different from the hearing people watching the movie as well. we were all equal in that dark cinema theatre.
the movie was a story all about these two young lovers who have known each other since they were ten and then became engaged just before the war began. she lost him and is trying to find him, thought he had died but turns out he had amnesia and switched tags with someone and so they thought that he had died. the story is unbelievable and if you can get past french humour and a bit of french culture stuff that will get to you, you will really enjoy it. i know i did.
rating of movie : a swell four stars. nothing like a movie about the power of love. but i wish they made the ending like, he recovered his senses and knew it was matilde and they lived happily ever after but it doesn't show that.
rating of cinema: four stars as well. bring a jacket. it was very cold in the gateway cinemas. i repeat, FREEZING COLD. thawing took place at the LRT station.
shock factor: brutal reality of a war, the tragedy of youth (it really is wasted on the young) and how the french must be dirty bastards in their past life... also, jodie foster was in the movie which shocked me. a familiar face in a movie filled with unfamiliar faces.

hanging out with my 'kada

"forsake not your old friends for the new are not comparable to them. a new friend is like new wine. when it is old, though shalt drink it with pleasure." - Apocrypha
today hung out in valenzuela, abelle's base. we just hung out and it was a good feeling to you know, be with friends who have known you since college. we don't hang out that much anymore so it was really nice. too bad i forgot my camera. the saying above is true. although doris, heidi, abelle and i have gone beyond the "party til you die" phase (steve is still very much into it) we have have our own way of getting high... catching up... yup, just plain catching up!! you know, talking, chilling, sharing what you feel. we haven't done that in a while. and even if it's obvious we have all grown up and gone our separate ways, when we get together it's like we just talked yesterday. there are times though when i know we could still have kept in touch way better than right now, we could've emailed each other often, texted each other, saw each other on a daily basis.... we never really kept in touch, you know. hmmm... maybe they're what people would call "friends for life". you know, the people who has your back when things get tough and no one believes you. (hope what i am saying is true guys!!) i wouldn't mind doing this again... but next time, i'm bringing my camera. cheers!

standing in the street

last saturday i was looking for a taxi and there i was standing in the sidewalk when.. i looked at my side and there was this car honking at me... ON THE FREAKING SIDEWALK. i mean, geez, don't filipinos know SIDEWALKS ARE NOT FOR CARS???!!??? and so, i don't know how long that van has been there but when i got out of the way, the driver looked at me with really mean eyes and said something i didn't get to to understand ... but which i would bet with all of the money in the world that it was mean, rude and obscene. geez.
i hope that driver suffers really BAD KARMA. and that filipinos learn that driving in sidewalks is STUPID AND CRAZY.
that's all.

meeting howard gardner

today was the last day of the two-day seminar that i attended. it was called CHANGING MINDS: teaching and parenting for the 21st century and focused mostly on howard gardner's multiple intelligence theory. many many many MANY thanks to CSB and Penn International who sponsored me. being sponsored has somehow become a big part of my life. and i am very grateful and thankful for those people who think i deserve it. ah well, you all know what i am talking about!!!
for those of you who don't know, howard gardner developed the mulitple intelligence theory. simply stated, we all have these talents that are visible from day one. there are dominant talents and then some. if you know this, then i would tell you now that i am linguistic.. and bordering on the visual-spatial intelligence lately. i am still deciding whether or not i am interpersonal or intrapersonal. hmmm...
what was impressive about the seminar??? getting to be THIS close to a man who made a theory that inspired millions of educators around the world. it's not everyday you get to see one or listen to one!!!! so seriously it really is a BIG deal!!! months ago, i saw the ad for this seminar and thought "i would really like to go there!" and now... I DID! again, i'm telling ya, some dreams really do come true... when you do something about it.... and when you least expect it!!!! so people, like everyone of those that accepted the first multiple intelligence awards today (cory aquino was one of them!), never give up on your dreams. always aspire for something and believe it can be done!!!
more on this seminar later and i will be posting some pics of me in the seminar!!!

prayer for his Holiness Pope John Paul II

dear lord,

please bless the Pope. May his health not deteriorate. Right now, the world needs him more than ever. Give him tons of blessings, comfort, strength and security. His steadfastedness and positive outlook in life is what everyone in the world should emulate. When Presidents are talking about war, the Pope is advocating peace. We need more people like him in this world. He truly is an angel on Earth. So please bless him. The world needs a man like Pope John Paul. This... I know the whole world asks of you.
